Heretic Fork

This video was originally meant to be displayed as a performance at my university. However, due to current circumstances, I had to resort to creating a video piece instead. I have also resorted to carrying out this performance without a shirt because I felt that without it, the forks could be more clearly seen digging into my flesh, further adding to the tension.

One of the main purposes of this piece is to test the limits of intersubjectivity as well as empathy. This has been done through the subjection to pain whilst maintaining a blank face in an almost literal sense. This effectively blocked out any outward facial signs of discomfort and ultimately intensified the confrontation of the relationship between the artist and the viewer.
